Odd Holiday #9--Brain Fart??

Today is Memory Day. Can you remember that?

Go read Mem Fox's Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge.

Better yet, go here and have Bradley Whitford from "The West Wing" read it to you. Just scroll through the left column until you come to the book.

Warning! Warning! Warning! Elementary teachers, you will find this site fascinating and will probably want to use it in your elementary classroom. Just don't say I didn't warn you!!

So in honor of memory day, I'm going to ask you a question that I remember my Child Development professor asked us in undergraduate school: What's your first childhood memory?

The first thing I can remember as a kid, is a bad and good thing. Good because I was 3 and my family was on a family vacation in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Bad because the memory deals with me getting so badly sun burned that I had water blisters all over my back and my mom and to pop them before I went to bed with a sterylized needle.

My first childhood memory is actually not a real memory, but it took me years to realize that. I've always remembered being home alone when I was like 2 years old, but I know that that never happened, so my first childhood memory is a fake.

You are right, I will use this site in my 3rd grade classroom. Thank you.

My first childhood memory is of a cat that my family adopted as it was stray. It bit me. We had that cat for 23 years. I miss him.
