A Passed (Away) Gas

With my sincere apologies to the late John and Maria:

I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist. Maybe Elmira Frindlefunk didn't have it so bad after all.

Picture found here.

Raiding the Kitchen

Gasoline to grocery store: $1.00

Can of Raid bug spray: $4.00

Can of Raid bug spray with exorbitant Tennessee sales tax: $5.00

Mistaking can of Raid for Pam cooking spray and thoroughly coating baking dish with bug spray: priceless

Yes, there are some things money can't buy. Unfortunately, I'm so distraught from my near fatal ingestion of poison that I can't think of any right now.

Drivin' in a Winter Wonderland

I drove through a blizzard on my way to work this morning.

(What? A blizzard in Nashville in September?)

It was crazy. I had my windshield wipers going on high and everything.

I can't find any sort of news clips in the paper, but it seems that a UPS truck or a packing supplies store or something containing great quantities of styrofoam exploded. Whatever it was, it had enough styrofoam to cause a blizzard for at least three-quarters of a mile around the Pancake Pantry. There were big chunks on the ground, but zillions of the little pellets swirling around in the warm September morning.

It was like I was trapped in some sort of inane urban snowglobe.

What's worse is that I had my windows down at the beginning of the onslaught. I think I inhaled a little piece because now I keep clearing my throat and feeling like I have a chunk of, well, styrofoam in my throat.

The view from my car (sort of, but not really at all):

Tell her Inkblots sent you.

Why Do It Now If I Can Do It Later?

I was going to tell you early this morning that today is National Fight Procrastination Day, otherwise known as "Do-It Day" (tee-hee!).

Obviously, I procrastinated in telling you that, as it's 3:00 in the afternoon and I'm just now telling you about the holiday.

Sorry. I've never been one to do things in advance...

As my pal Ellen Degeneres says, "Procrastination isn't the problem, it's the solution. So procrastinate now, don't put it off!"

I like Ellen's philosophy. I should write her a letter...maybe I'll get my picture shown on the Looky-Loo.

Nah...I'll do it later.

This Ain't Mickey!

Dang. I saw the mouse in my kitchen today. He's black. I'm sure he has a tail, but I've never noticed it the two times I've seen him.

I thought they were nocturnal creatures, but this guy was out today. He escaped to a Wal-mart bag that I got yesterday, but I don't know which one and I don't want him to jump out at me if I poke around in the bags. Plus, I don't know what I'd do with him even if he did pop out at me.

I got a set of ultrasound repellants that the sales clerk promised would work. They take up to two weeks, though. I'm hoping that the small size of my apartment means they'll leave before that two weeks. I'm scared to go cook anything because I don't want my mouse pal to surprise me.

Sheesh. I don't mind mice, but I don't want them in my apartment.

Flopped

My idea on the real-time description of my class flopped. It's too bad--I was going to make it interesting, more interesting than a real-time dialogue would've been. There are some interesting people in my class. Unfortunately, the professor kept staring me down until finally I felt so guilty I closed up my laptop and straightened up in my chair.

Why, when I'm old enough that teachers shouldn't scare me anymore, do I still crumble under the "teacher eye"?? She gave me the look and the guilt overwhelmed me. Sheesh.

Real-Time Class

I'm getting into class right now. I'm thinking about doing a real-time description of exactly what goes on in class. I wonder if I can get away with blogging in a class of 10...

Maybe more as class progresses. It's a class on behavior management, so I certainly can't get in trouble in here! The professor knows too many techiniques!!

Odd Holidays--One Hot Chicken

Let me be the first to wish my pal Chicken Boy a very happy birthday! Yes, today, September 1st, is Chicken Boy's birthday.

Who is Chicken Boy, you might ask? Well, check out his official website!

Still needing more? Blue Mountain cards has this e-card available for free! I dare you to send the card to your coworkers!

Mmmm. Chicken. Must have McNuggets now. *licking slobbery drool off lips and looking for car keys*
